Internet marketing definition: It is a type of marketing activity conducted using websites, social media, e-mail and other broadly defined online resources.
Types of internet marketing
Graphic advertising- A banner is the oldest and most popular form of online advertising. It takes the form of a rectangle, for example, that displays while browsing a website. Its advantages include minimal intrusiveness and low resource consumption.
- Billboards (megabanners, superbanners) are currently the most popular form of online advertising. They are most often displayed at the top of a website.
- Skyscraper is an advertisement displayed on the side of a page, usually taking up a large area
- An inline box is a graphic banner placed between paragraphs of text. Its advantage is that it allows for advertising the product described in the text.
- A button is simply a small graphic banner placed near the navigation panel of a website.
E-mail marketing It is the second most popular form of online advertising (after display advertising). Email marketing is a form of advertising sent to consumers via email. Advertising sent this way often takes the form of spam. Another form of email advertising is newsletters, which are more effective and advertise products that the consumer needs, as the consumer must opt in to receive the newsletter. For this same reason, the reach of this type of advertising is smaller than that of classic email spam.
Affiliate Marketing It's a form of online advertising where an advertiser places ads on a partner's website. The advertiser selects the partners and pages viewed by people who might be interested in their product. In turn, the website owner earns a profit for every click on the ad or for every product purchased through the ad.
Remarketing This is an advertising method that tailors ads to the user. For example, if a user searches for information about computers and their components, we display ads for such parts. If a user visits an online bicycle store, they may receive ads for a period of time that encourage them to return to the website or even to a subpage with a specific product.
Semantic advertising is a type of advertising that relies on the semantic analysis of web pages. This process fills the advertising space with targeted ads that have the maximum chance of capturing the consumer's attention.
An example of such contextual advertising is Google AdWordsThis type of advertising is currently dominant.
Video marketing. This form of marketing allows you to advertise your product much more effectively and provide potential consumers with more information. YouTube is an excellent platform for video marketing. Examples of video marketing types include video blogs, video guides, and video reviews.
Internet Marketing – Business Models
Online marketing business models can be divided into three groups: sales based on the number of impressions, sales based on billing for specific consumer actions, and a model that combines both. The most common methods through which online advertising is purchased are:
- CPM (cost per mile) is the most popular business model. The advertiser pays for the ad to be displayed to a specific number of readers. Typically, this number is one thousand, hence the name.
- CPV (cost per visitor) occurs when an advertiser pays to redirect users to their website.
- CPV (cost per view) occurs when an advertiser pays each time an ad is displayed.
- CPC (cost per click) occurs when an advertiser pays for clicks on their ad. CPC differs from CPV in that the advertiser pays for each click, regardless of whether the user reaches the target page.
- CPA (cost per action) is particularly useful in affiliate marketing. The website owner takes full responsibility for the effectiveness of the ads. The advertiser only pays for the customer's actions triggered by the ad, such as purchasing the advertised product or completing a survey.
- Cost per conversion describes the cost of acquiring a single customer by using a simple formula: the cost of the advertising campaign is divided by the number of acquired customers
- CPD (cost per day) is a method used in long-term, fruitful collaborations with website owners. It's simply a contract where the advertiser pays a set amount for each day their ad appears on the website.
