Good SEO - or how to take a place on the podium in search engine results

How to rank high in search engine results?

We now know how search engine algorithms work. What steps can we take to ensure our website is well-regarded by search engine crawlers and appears high in search results? What can we do to ensure good SEO ? Below are a few tips:

  1. Creating a keyword list

It's worth taking the time to analyze how your potential customers search online for products or services similar to yours. To appear in search results for your target audience, you need to include keywords searched for in your content and links. Keywords and SEO are closely related, so it's worth compiling a list of keywords that match what people are searching for online.

Careful keyword selection can translate traffic into sales. How should you go about keyword research? Here are a few things to get you started:

  • Learn about your audience's problems/needs - purpose SEO activities The goal is to drive traffic to your website and show users that you have the solution they're looking for. But to do that, you need to know what they need. Find out what your audience's problems are, and then use keywords related to those issues in your content. This will attract your audience.
  • Be an authority in your industry – If you sell a product or service, you need to know what you're offering. Familiarize yourself with the specifications of your products and use professional, specialized vocabulary. Good knowledge of the subject not only helps you positioning, but it also makes you a better resource for consumers who come to you for help and information.
  • Check out the competition – Your competition can be a valuable source of information when it comes to keywords that are relevant to your industry.
  • Choose phrases with low competition – Popular keywords used by everyone won't help you. Focus on less competitive keywords and you'll increase your chances of ranking higher.
  • Follow the trends — Seasonal trends can have a big impact on keyword strategies. If you have a product or service that's seasonal or can be marketed as such, use keywords like "Christmas sweater," "winter ski jacket," "trendy coats for spring 2022," etc.
  • Use tools to help you — There are plenty of tools designed specifically for analyzing SEO activities that will help you conduct keyword research. They'll help you learn what's working and what's not. You can find a list of free SEO tools available online here here.

2. Appropriate use of keywords

Once you've done your research and selected keywords, the next step is to place them in places that impact search engine visibility—to maximize their potential. What do we recommend?

  • Give a unique title — Each page URL must have a unique title that responds to users' queries as naturally as possible. Therefore, keywords should appear in the title.
  • Create a page description (meta description) — add keywords to the descriptions, and the search engine will automatically bold them so that users can easily find what they are interested in by scanning the text.
  • Remember friendly URLs — Each subpage has its own URL. It's worth including keywords in the addresses, as an automatic URL won't be readable by users or recognized by Google's crawlers.
  • Use headings (H1- H6) — this will make the way you convey information clearer to both your website visitors and search engines. There are six levels of headings, the most important being H1.
  • Describe the graphics files — keywords in file descriptions that match what they represent will make your website rank better in the “Images” section of Google.
  • Take care of internal links — thanks to these links, Google robots move between subpages, and the greater the number of links to a given subpage, the stronger the signal to the robots that this particular page should be positioned high.
  • Saturate the content on the page — keywords should also be included in content on the page. This should be done skillfully – so that the texts are still easy to read. Therefore, they should not be overloaded with keywords. Therefore, it's worth using variations of a given phrase and synonyms.
Website optimization - SEO hits the mark

3. Website optimization

SEO isn't just about keywords. A properly functioning website is also crucial. If you want good SEO, there are a few things that must function flawlessly on your website. What should you focus on? Here are a few suggestions:

  • Improve navigation – Navigating a website should be intuitive and as simple as possible. Good navigation not only makes it easier for users but can also help search engine spiders find more subpages.
  • Beware of error 404 All the effort you put into driving traffic to your website will be wasted if users receive a 404 error after clicking a link and leave the site. Creating redirects for 404 links is essential, as not only can you lose a potential customer, but you can also make it harder for search engine spiders to index your page.
  • Remember about phone users – Your website should display correctly on mobile devices. With the introduction of Google's mobile-first indexing, a lack of responsiveness can negatively impact your site's ranking in search results.
  • Reduce waiting time – More than half of users abandon a page that takes longer than 3 seconds to load. Therefore, page load time affects conversion. We can reduce load time by:
    • compression of photos and graphics,
    • reducing the size of website code files,
    • uninstalling unnecessary plugins,
    • verifying hosting performance,
    • minimizing the number of redirects,
    • enabling Gzip support on the website,
  • Write quality content – Your content must provide real value. High-quality content increases time spent on the site, lowers bounce rates, and provides useful information for users. All of this is appreciated by Google's search engines.
