What is the role of e-grocery in Poland?

The Polish grocery market has undergone a significant transformation. It's now estimated that one in three Poles orders food online . It's not just about ready-made meals – we're increasingly buying even fresh vegetables and meat online. E-grocery is also changing the stores themselves. Biedronka, Lidl, and Carrefour have invested millions in developing their shopping platforms. Frisco.pl and Barbora, on the other hand, demonstrate that running a supermarket is possible solely online.

What trends await the e-grocery industry?

It seems that e-grocery is not a passing trend. Experts predict that by 2025, the value of this market segment in Poland will exceed PLN 15 billion. Stores are testing new solutions – from same-day deliveries to their own mobile apps.

This doesn't mean the end of traditional stores. Rather, we'll see their integration with online commerce. This is already evident in the popularity of "order online, pick up in store" services.

E-grocery also fits into the broader trend of digitization. Younger generations treat online shopping as a matter of course . For them, the ability to order fresh groceries online isn't a technological innovation, but the norm. One thing is certain: the way we shop for groceries is changing before our eyes. While brick-and-mortar stores certainly won't disappear, e-grocery will become a permanent part of our shopping habits.
