While bidding is often discussed in relation to Google Ads campaigns, the final cost-per-click (CPC) is influenced not only by the maximum amount we pay for a single click on an ad. The campaign's quality score is equally important.
What makes up the cost per click in Google Ads?
Cost-per-click is influenced by the maximum amount we're willing to pay per click and the campaign's quality score . The relationship between these factors is typically expressed as follows:
[maximum amount per click] x [campaign quality score] = cost per click
So what elements would make up a campaign's quality score? The most important are:
- historical account quality score,
- keyword quality score,
- ad quality score,
- expenses of the entire account,
- keyword CTR,
- ad CTR,
- keyword relevance,
- ad relevance,
- target website relevance,
- and many other factors.
A factor that significantly impacts cost-per-click (CPC), though beyond the campaign manager's control, is the competitiveness of a given industry. Advertising a law firm in a large city, for example, is unlikely to achieve a cost of PLN 0,29 per click, even with a very high campaign quality score. However, a well-configured and executed AdWords campaign can ensure better rankings and results at a lower cost.
Industry competition is a crucial factor to consider when planning your campaign budget. A limited budget in competitive industries can mean unsatisfactory campaign results and, consequently, discourage you from using Google Ads.
Google Ads campaigns for around 3000 PLN
Does a budget of 3000 PLN for online advertising make sense? As a Google Ads campaign specialist (and now a Product Designer), I hear questions about budgets most often. Business owners, marketers, and sales professionals across various industries often struggle with how much budget to allocate to online activities, especially at the beginning of their Google Ads journey . That's why I decided to dispel any doubts and describe whether inexpensive online advertising can be effective.
Google Ads for PLN 3000 – the budget says it all
Google Ads campaigns with a budget of PLN 3000 are ideal for businesses operating locally, but where the competition is somewhat stiffer, requiring a strong search engine ranking. For example, this could be a real estate company or developer in Poznań or another larger city. We assume they're looking for clients in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, so we'll target that area.
At Verseo, we most often recommend Google search advertising and remarketing for businesses within a given budget. Depending on the specific case, location, and website traffic, we typically allocate around 20% of the budget to remarketing initially, then review these assumptions and make any necessary adjustments based on results. By adopting this strategy, even inexpensive online advertising often yields good results.
What are the main advantages of this type of advertising campaigns?

- We can freely specify the location where the ad will be displayed and exclude cities or provinces where we don't want to promote our offer. We tailor the display of ads in a given area, reaching the most potentially interested people. This eliminates cases in which our ad would appear to people searching for apartments in another city.
- We can edit the content of the ad at any time, for example, by introducing content that is important to the recipient or by referring to current events or tempting them with promotions.
- What's more, we can pause or reactivate the advertising campaign at any time (if, for example, a given sales stage ends)
- If necessary, we can precisely define the hours and days when ads will be displayed (based on customer analysis and the times when they most often look for new apartments, we can adjust the display of ads to these hours and days)
- we can also select or exclude devices on which our ads should be displayed (for example, we can display them on computers, mobile phones and tablets, but if necessary, we can exclude some of them or reduce bids on those from which we have poor traffic or no conversions)
- we can choose many keywords, because in the settings we assumed that the ad would only be displayed in the vicinity of Poznań, we do not have to limit ourselves to combinations of words containing the name of the city, e.g.:
- two-room apartment,
- new apartments,
- three-room apartments,
- cheap apartment,
- apartment for sale,
- turnkey apartment,
- itp.
- By adding extensions to ads, such as call extensions, we can make it easier for potential customers to contact our representative.
- In remarketing, we can use a completely different message than in the search network. Based on the customer journey model, we can tailor content to those who have previously visited our website and explored our offer.
Google Ads campaigns for PLN 3000 – other advantages for local activities:
- We only pay for advertising when someone clicks on it, so it is relatively cheap advertising on the Internet.
- in the Google Ads system we can measure which keywords customers use to send us an inquiry and thus try to calculate the cost of acquiring one customer.
- By using both the Google Ads advertising system and the Google Analytics analytical system, we can precisely track what users do on our website and how they arrive at it.
- By tracking and monitoring traffic, we can make decisions that reduce the costs of advertising campaigns. For example, by checking which keywords are generating sales, we can pause less effective words and reduce costs, or have additional budget for testing new words.
- During advertising campaigns, we have constant access to their results and can quickly respond to market changes or shifts in user behavior. We also see how price increases or decreases impact home purchase decisions.
- We set the maximum allowable budget in the system, thanks to which we have constant control over it and, by definition, cheap advertising on the Internet does not suddenly turn into too large an investment.
- we can test different advertising messages and check what content and how the ad texts are arranged perform best.
- We gather precise information about what works best for our company. This allows us to know, for example, which keywords are worth using in the SEO process for our website.
Google Ads campaigns ensure high competitiveness in Google searches, as ads can help your website rank at the top of search results, increasing the number of visitors. This is one of the quickest ways to get noticed by potential customers, especially if your offers are seasonal or may soon expire.
Moreover, if we operate in a relatively competitive market, we must consider that our competitors likely already use several advertising channels. However, this doesn't mean that we need to invest the largest possible budget in a campaign to stand out. What matters is the optimization of advertising campaigns, which involves analyzing results and bids and adapting them to user behavior.
In the case of a curtain store, a campaign can also be targeted at people searching for similar products, such as those related to home finishing or decorating. Therefore, if we sell a specific type of product, we can also target ads to people who have searched for similar items or may be interested in redecorating or renovating their house/apartment.- Using the Google Ads system and the data available in Google Analytics, you can thoroughly analyze how users who come to your website behave and how they behave on it.
- Google Ads campaigns for online stores provide insight into statistics. With such a wealth of data on shopper behavior, you can tailor ad content and formats, and make decisions about removing specific products or introducing additional ones.

It's also important to remember that budget is important, but the quality of advertising campaigns also matters. A high-quality advertising campaign (compliant with Google policies and built on best practices) ultimately allows you to appear in high positions for slightly lower rates (than with poor-quality ads). Therefore, it's important to prioritize quality and adhere to, among other things, Google's recommendations that appear in your account and the best practices developed by the specialist's experience.
Google Ads for about 5000 PLN
For smaller or mid-sized stores, a common starting budget suggested by Google Ads specialists is PLN 5000 (of course, it depends on the industry, so for the purposes of this article, we selected a store profile that could definitely start with this amount).
What advertising solutions do we offer within a Google Ads budget of PLN 5000?
When working with online stores, we primarily consider the store's size (i.e., the number of products we want to advertise), industry competitiveness, product types and prices, and the customer's shopping journey. Therefore, we tailor the campaign type and advertising content to what and where we're promoting, the customer's current stage of the shopping journey, and whether we're promoting products for regular or one-time purchases. To promote online stores, we most often use:
- product campaigns (so-called Google Shopping / PLA) – the most popular and effective campaigns for advertising online stores and presenting Internet users with specific products along with their photos and prices,
- search campaigns – text ads targeted at customers at the initial stage of the purchasing path who are just looking for information about a given product or using general keywords or phrases containing the brand name,
- remarketing – display ads targeted at customers who visited our website, viewed products or added them to their cart but did not complete their transaction, or at customers whom we want to encourage to purchase our product again.
Depending on the goal and the specific case, the PLN 5000 budget is allocated appropriately among the above campaign types. Typically, the largest portion of the budget (up to 70%) is allocated to the product campaign (as this type of campaign is the most effective method of promoting online stores and a driving force for website traffic and sales).
Another 20% or so of the budget is allocated to remarketing (it's worth noting that the remarketing budget will vary depending on the industry – the more expensive the product being advertised, the longer the path to purchase may be. Many people buying more expensive products, such as furniture, household appliances, or consumer electronics, significantly compare the competition, check offers from various price comparison websites, and need more time to consider. In this situation, it's worth returning to them with a more intensive advertising campaign or preparing a separate offer for abandoned carts). The remaining 10% or so of the budget is allocated to branded text ads (a huge advantage of branded ads is that they are very inexpensive to click, so even with a minimal budget, they can generate significant traffic and sales).
You're probably wondering where the budget for non-branded text ads goes? Well, with medium-sized budgets (yes, 5000 PLN for e-commerce like window coverings isn't a very large budget at all), we usually invest first in product ads. After collecting enough data, we verify the campaign settings and budget allocation, and consider whether it's worth adding another search engine campaign, for example, for keywords related to the products that sell best in the product campaign or those that the client wants to focus on most.
What are the main advantages of the campaigns described above?

- You can target campaigns to people at different stages of the purchasing path, adapting advertising content and ad formats to them,
- You can precisely tailor your ad content to your target audience and present your products in engaging graphics. With engaging ad copy and a carefully crafted call-to-action, people who see your ads know what to do after clicking on them.
- With product ads, you save costs – internet users who see product ads see their image and price in the search results. If they decide they don't like the product or its price is too high, they won't click on the ad, and you won't pay a penny for the display without a click.
- You can direct internet users to the appropriate subpages dedicated to the products they're searching for. This saves potential customers time and eliminates the frustration of having to click through various subpages, which could effectively discourage them from shopping at your store.
- you can test various advertising content options and, consequently, after a given campaign period, select the best performing ads and stop those that do not bring results or generate too high costs,
- nothing prevents you from temporarily or seasonally suspending your campaign,
- there is also no problem with changing or adjusting the budget of the entire campaign or its specific part,
- Using the keyword planner, you can search for phrases most frequently entered by users looking for curtains, so that when running a campaign, you can precisely determine the rates for clicking on an ad displayed for a given phrase,
- We therefore have complete control over the rates per click and, consequently, over the overall campaign budget,
- With ad extensions, we can present additional information that didn't fit in the ad text. Furthermore, extensions expand the advertising space and make the message more engaging (e.g., callout extensions allow you to add information about free shipping, and call extensions allow you to directly contact the hotline for additional questions about the product).
Additional benefits of Google Ads campaigns for smaller or medium-sized online stores:

- Google Ads campaigns for online stores provide insight into statistics. With such a wealth of data on shopper behavior, you can tailor ad content and formats, and make decisions about removing specific products or introducing additional ones.
