How do I clear my Google search history on my phone?

When it comes to Google search history, deleting it on a smartphone is very similar.

Open the Google app (it could also be Google Maps or YouTube – they all use the same account), click your profile picture in the top right corner and select Data and privacy.

Deleting on a smartphone is similar: in the Google app (or Maps/YouTube), click on your profile, then "Data & Privacy."

Fig 12. On your smartphone, in the Google/Maps/YouTube application, go to: Profile -> Data and privacy.

Once you click, you'll see the same options available on desktop. You can disable activity history, location history, YouTube history, and ad personalization.

Just like on desktop, you can disable history (activity, location, YouTube) and ad personalization here.

Deleting browser history

It is worth remembering that in addition to deleting the history from your Google account, you can also delete data saved directly in the browser in Chrome, Firefox or Edge.

This will clear local data from your device, such as your browsing history, cookies, and temporary files. It's important to note, however, that this is not the same as deleting your search history from your Google account.

Data stored in the cloud—that is, your account activity—will remain visible until you manually delete it or enable automatic deletion. Therefore, if you want to completely remove all traces of your searches, it's worth taking both steps.

Deleting history in Google Chrome

Click the 3 dots in the upper right corner of the screen, then click: Clear browsing data.

Click the menu (three dots) and select "Clear browsing data."

Then select the time range and type of data to be deleted.

Why is it important to care about your search history?

Google collects far more information than most users realize. Your activity history records not only your searches but also your Google Maps locations, the addresses of places you visit, the videos you watch on YouTube, and even how you use the Google Assistant.

If you have sync enabled in your browser, Google also remembers the websites you visit, bookmarks, saved passwords, and download history. This includes data about your devices, logins, app activity, and information about which ads you've viewed or clicked on.

Google personalizes results, recommendations, and ads. If you don't clear your history for years, algorithms may assign you interests that are no longer relevant. The result? Sometimes, outdated suggestions, irrelevant ads, and results that are less relevant to your current needs.

It's important to remember that this is also a security issue. Your search and location history can indirectly reveal where you're going, what your plans are, what your interests are, and even where you live.

Regularly clearing this data reduces the risk of unauthorized access to your private information if your device is lost. It's a simple habit that truly strengthens your digital security.

If data has become currency, controlling it is a form of digital hygiene – simple but very effective.

Google Search History FAQs

The most popular and easily accessible sources of startup funding are non-repayable grants from the District Employment Office (PUP) and EU funds. Alternatively, there are preferential, low-interest loans for new entrepreneurs, such as the government's "Startup Support" program.

To receive funds from the PUP, several key conditions must be met. The main one is being registered as unemployed with the relevant office. Additionally, the applicant typically cannot have been actively registered with the CEIDG (Central Registration and Information on Business) for the 12 months preceding the application, nor can they have rejected job offers from the office without justification.

Most offices have their own regulations for allocating funds, but in the case of e-commerce, the most common funding is:

  • design, construction and implementation of a sales platform,
  • purchase of necessary equipment (e.g. computer, printer, photographic equipment for product photos),
  • purchase of commercial goods (so-called first stocking),
  • basic marketing activities (here, strict limits often apply, e.g. a maximum of 10% of the total subsidy amount).

Funds from the grant typically cannot be used for ongoing business expenses. Expenses such as social security contributions, taxes, accounting services, subscriptions, salaries, and office or warehouse rental fees are generally excluded.

The most important element of any application is a solid and realistic business plan. It demonstrates that your idea has a chance of success in the market. It must include a thorough competitive analysis, a clearly defined target audience, a well-thought-out marketing strategy, and well-calculated financial projections for the first several months of operation.

The basic requirement for non-refundability of PUP funds is uninterrupted business operations for at least 12 months. During this period, entrepreneurs cannot suspend their business or take up employment under an employment contract. After one year, they must also properly settle all purchases with the office, submitting invoices and payment confirmations.
