List of Google Chrome extensions you must install in your browser (ranking 2022) - photo no. 1

Google Chrome - plugins

Google Chrome is the most popular web browser in the world. Millions of users use it across multiple platforms, and Google's product has surpassed competitors like Firefox, Edge, and Safari in terms of user numbers.

You can read more about the browser itself, its history and options in a separate article on our blog -> Google Chrome – what is it?

In its basic form, the browser performs its role very well, allowing for generally seamless use of internet resources. However, its functionality can be significantly enhanced by creating a personalized tool with Chrome, perfectly tailored to your needs and requirements. A comprehensive settings menu comes in handy. However, this is just the beginning.

Chrome Web Store – Add Features to Your Chrome Browser

Google Chrome's greatest strength is the Chrome Web Store—a platform where you can find thousands of additional resources for the web browser. These are divided into two categories:

  • Themes – add-ons that change the browser's appearance. If you're bored with Chrome's default styling, you can choose a different graphical theme from a vast selection – from minimalist, almost ascetic designs, through fanciful, multi-colored ones, to those based on famous franchises like the most famous football clubs or the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Some themes only change the background, while others significantly alter the color scheme and appearance of the interface.
  • Extensions – add-ons that extend the basic functions of the browser. They can cover various aspects – for example UX, password management or providing data on websites viewed.

Today, we'll focus on the second category—or rather, a small part of it: extensions that help with the broader work of a marketing or SEO specialist . Some of these extensions were already discussed in the aforementioned article about Google Chrome—and I've included them here as well to gather all the extensions useful to marketers in one place.

Plugins available on the platform are free – you can install any extension for free. However, many extensions require a specific service to function properly if they are part of a larger, commercially distributed solution – for example, Keeper Security, a plugin that supports password management using the Keeper tool.

Note : Please note that not all extensions presented here have been created or are authorized by Google. While undoubtedly useful and useful, you use them at your own risk – some extensions require permission to access various user-viewed and shared data to function properly. These days, every extension comes with a great deal of responsibility. 😉

How to install and manage extensions in Chrome?

Adding extensions to Chrome is very easy. Visit the Chrome Web Store at https://chrome.google.com/webstore/

Chrome - Best Add-ons - Web Store Home Page

On the left side of ChWS, there is a list of categories and a search box where you can enter the name of a Chrome plugin, or, if you don't know the specific title, related keywords will suffice – for example, "screenshot" if you're looking for a plugin that helps you take screenshots.

After selecting an extension from the list, you can read a description, screenshots, information about the publisher and privacy practices, and user reviews. To add an extension (i.e., install a plugin), simply click the "Add to Chrome" button on the right.

You can find the plugin management panel by entering chrome://extensions/ in the address bar.

In this panel, you can temporarily deactivate a selected plugin, completely remove the extension from your browser, or view product details. A handy extensions panel is also located in the upper right corner, next to the address bar. You can "pin" selected plugins there to see active extensions and have quick access to their features.

The best extensions for Google Chrome - a huge list of browser plugins

Below is a list of dozens of Chrome extensions that may prove useful for various activities related to digital marketing and website positioning . The list is divided into three sections – the first contains plugins for SEO specialists, the second contains various plugins helpful in other marketing activities, and the third focuses on plugins for taking screenshots of websites.

The extensions presented in the article are, of course, only a fraction of the wealth offered by Google Chrome – the add-on platform provides many more plug-ins with diverse functionalities.

The best SEO extensions for Google Chrome for SEO specialists and more

NoFollow

NoFollow highlights all links on a page that have been assigned the nofollow attribute with a red border. This eliminates the need to look at the code to immediately determine whether a link invites search engine crawlers to the target page.

SEOQuake

SEOQuake displays data about the visibility of a page in the form of a panel placed between the address bar and/or bookmarks and the content of the website being viewed.

Using this plugin, you can check, among other things, the number of pages indexed in Google and Bing within a domain, the number of links leading to a specific subpage and the domain as a whole, and even data about the domain owner.

Ubersuggest

A very useful plugin that displays useful data for every SEO expert alongside the viewed page. It includes the number of organic keywords, domain authority, the number of links pointing to the page (including those marked as nofollow), an estimate of monthly traffic, and a list of keywords for which the page ranks in the TOP 3, TOP 10, TOP 50, and TOP 100. The Premium version allows you to unlock more advanced statistics and panels, but even the basic version of Ubersuggest "does the job."

Linkhouse SEO Backlink Finder

Linkhouse SEO Backlink Finder is a completely free extension that simplifies the verification of website parameters and the ability to purchase offers from websites of interest during everyday Google searches. If you're looking for offers with backlinks, this tool will significantly simplify the process of finding suitable sources.

Ahrefs SEO Toolbar

This add-on is an integral part of Ahrefs, one of the most popular analytical tools. However, the extension can also be used in its basic form without an account on the "parent service." The plugin displays page metadata, links to robots.txt files and sitemaps, displays image alt attributes, word counts, heading structure, word counts, and links placed in subpage content along with dofollow/nofollow attribute markings.

Minion SEO

This Chrome browser plugin is a must-have for every SEO professional. Similar to the Ahrefs add-on above, SEO Minion displays key data regarding the content published on a given page and its search engine visibility. It also allows you to highlight all links on a page, with filtering options based on the follow/nofollow attribute and link type (external/internal), among other things.

NinjaOutreach Lite

A Chrome plugin that displays, among other things , domain authority , traffic estimation, backlinks, position in several rankings (Alexa, Moz), the number of shares of a subpage on social media, and the community size on related social media profiles.

Importantly, adding websites to lists in NinjaOutreach can be done in two clicks. This option allows you to quickly analyze, for example, all websites on the first page of a Google search for a given term. Another option is to automatically fill out forms on your page with specific content if the plugin detects it within your site – this can be very useful for contacting you about link building. In addition to the basic version, a paid premium version is also available.

Growthbar

A comprehensive tool for SEO specialists. When entering a search term into a search engine, the tool displays its SEO difficulty level, the top links for that phrase, and related keyword suggestions. For website analysis, Growthbar shows domain authority, traffic estimates, Facebook Ads campaigns (if a Facebook pixel is detected on the page), Google Ads campaign keywords , and many other helpful options.

The extension is advertised as "the smartest SEO tool in the world." With this lofty claim, however, comes a rather high price. Growthbar requires users to create an account to activate its features. The first five days are free, but after that, the cost ranges from $29 to $199 per month for an annual subscription (monthly billing nearly doubles the cost).

Wappalyzer

An incredibly useful extension for those involved in the more technical aspects of digital marketing. Wappalyzer presents various technologies, services, and modules used by the website being analyzed. These include analytical tools, content management systems, PHP versions, and even some CMS plugins (e.g., Yoast for SEO in WordPress). It's a great tool for competitor analysis and staying up-to-date on new internet technologies.

The free version can be extended with an additional function of displaying contact data collected from the website – currently Wappalyzer Premium costs 9 euros per month.

Keywords Everywhere

Keywords Everywhere is an extension that analyzes keywords found on a given page. The list can be filtered by various criteria (including density, repetition rate, search volume, and many others).

Unfortunately, the free version is very limited, even after registering and connecting to the API. Advanced options (including keyword list generation and export to .xlsx or .pdf files) are available in the Premium version.

SEO Meta in One Click

As the name suggests, a single click on the extension's logo icon allows you to read your site's meta tags and descriptions. Separate tabs allow you to view the heading structure, a list of embedded images with their titles and alt tags, a list of links, and many other options, including Schema markup checking.

Redirect path

The extension allows you to check redirects on a given address, showing the URLs a user had to navigate through before reaching the correct page. You can also find server IP addresses and other information.

Link Redirect Trace

This plugin works similarly to Redirect Path, displaying the entire redirect path along with their codes (e.g., 301). The plugin also indicates server response time, whether the page is being indexed by bots, displays the approximate number of links, and several other metrics.

Other Google Chrome Plugins – Internet Marketing

In this category you will find the best Google Chrome extensions that support the work of a marketing specialist.

WhatFont

A free extension that allows you to instantly identify the font used in the text on a given page – in addition to the font name itself, the plugin displays the size and formatting that has been applied (bold, italic, etc.).

Chrome Extension - WhatFont

Disable Javascript

A plugin that blocks JavaScript code on websites—including pop-ups and other types of notifications. It can be used to block all scripts on a website or to selectively select the ones you want to disable. The plugin also allows you to conveniently add websites and domains to a "whitelist."

Another extension – NoScript – plays a similar role.

Facebook Pixel Helper

FPH checks whether a Facebook pixel has been previously installed on the website and, if it detects one, displays basic information about it. This includes the pixel ID and any events set.

Google Translate

In addition to its basic web version, Google Translate also offers a Chrome extension that you can use while browsing. Like the "adult" version, Google Translate translates a given text fragment into one of dozens of available languages.

Glimpse – Google Trends Supercharged

A plugin that expands the data available in Google Trends, enriching it with search volume and analysis of related phrases (long-tail search), among other things. The plugin requires an email address to function.

RocketReach

This plugin allows you to quickly find contact information for people associated with a given website or company. Importantly, the extension integrates seamlessly with LinkedIn, making it much easier to acquire contacts and expand your business network. The extension requires creating an account with the service and is quite expensive – the basic plan (1500 searches per year) costs approximately 170 PLN per month on an annual basis.

SocialBlade

A Google Chrome plugin that displays data about videos and the entire channel while browsing YouTube and Twitch—including subscriber counts, estimated ad revenue, tags, and view statistics. This plugin is especially useful for influencer marketing. A free account is required.

The best Chrome extensions for taking screenshots

Sometimes you need to save a page to disk – for later analysis, inspiration, or for any other reason. Saving screenshots using the Print Screen key can be rather inconvenient (it saves the entire screen view, including bookmarks, running programs, etc., and if you're using two monitors, both will be saved). The Windows snipping tool won't handle saving pages whose content doesn't fit in a single view, requiring the user to scroll the screen.

The best Chrome extensions come to the rescue, allowing you to save the entire content of a given page to an image file, creating rich screenshots . This allows you to easily save a screenshot directly from the browser. Among them, it's especially worth considering:

  • Lightshot,
  • Nimbus Screenshot & Screen Video Recorder,
  • Fireshot,
  • Full Page Screenshot,
  • Master Screen Capture,
  • Screen capture – screenshot share/save.

Chrome Plugins - Enhance Your Browser

In addition to the extensions presented here, you'll find thousands of others on the Chrome platform—from plugins that display weather forecasts, to those that enhance sharing and note-taking, to those that browse Google News , to those that support online shopping and browser security . These include ad-blocking and user tracking (like Adblock or Privacy Badger), those that help organize tasks, save files on your computer, analyze your productivity, change text size, and even password managers, all the way to apps that, when you open a new tab, display a classic painting. If you search carefully, you can install an extension for almost any purpose.

Which plugin do you consider the most valuable and simply the best extension? Which plugin icons do you see every day next to the address bar in the upper right corner of your browser? Do you use a Chrome extension that's very useful but isn't on the list above? Share the plugin's name in the comments!

Google Chrome Plugin FAQs

Plugins are small programs (modules) that integrate with the Google Chrome browser, adding new, useful features. They allow for complete browser personalization and tailoring to individual user needs—from blocking intrusive ads and spell checking to advanced analytical tools for SEO specialists.

All plugins should be downloaded only from an official and authorized source, such as the Chrome Web Store. Downloading extensions from unknown third-party sites carries a significant risk of installing malware.

The installation process is incredibly simple. Simply visit the Chrome Web Store, search for the tool you're interested in, click the "Add to Chrome" button, and then confirm installation in the pop-up window by selecting "Add extension." The new plugin icon will appear in the toolbar in the upper right corner of the browser.

To manage extensions, click the "puzzle" icon next to the URL bar and select "Manage Extensions" (or go to Settings -> Extensions). There, you'll find a list of all installed extensions. You can use the slider to temporarily disable/enable them, or completely remove them from the browser by clicking the "Remove" button.

Yes. Every active extension consumes computer resources, primarily RAM and CPU power. Having too many plugins installed and running in the background can significantly slow down the browser itself, and in extreme cases, the entire system. Therefore, it's recommended to regularly clean up and remove tools you no longer use.

Most plugins are completely free. However, many operate on a freemium model – basic features are available for free, but to unlock advanced tools (commonly found in professional marketing or SEO plugins, for example), you must purchase a paid subscription.
