For several years, Facebook has been offering exams to professionals as part of the Facebook Blueprint Certification program . These certifications are designed for specialists managing Facebook Ads campaigns and developers. They vary in level of advancement and require additional skills, such as knowledge of specific programming languages.
Facebook Blueprint – available certificates
- Level Associate:
- Facebook Certified Digital Marketing Associate.
- Level Professional:
- Facebook Certified Media Planning Professional,
- Facebook Certified Media Buying Professional,
- Facebook Certified Marketing Science Professional (Pilot, available by invitation only, related to data analysis and visualization, requiring knowledge of Python, MySQL, and Big Data issues, among others).
- Level Developer:
- Facebook Certified Ads Product Developer I,
- Facebook Certified Ads Product Developer II,
- Facebook Certified Ads Product Developer III.
As official Facebook partners , due to the rebranding of the program under which we obtained previous certificates (Facebook Bronze Certificate), we had to obtain Facebook Blueprint certificates by the end of the year.
We chose two of them: Facebook Certified Media Buying Professional and Facebook Certified Ads Product Developer I.
Both exams can be taken in three ways:
(The rest of the article can be found below the form)
- at home/at work,
- at the local Facebook office,
- at a special exam event.
What does the Facebook Blueprint examination process look like?
Facebook's exam requirements are very specific . Failure to meet them may result in disqualification, so it's important to review them thoroughly before taking the exam. What was it like for us?
We took advantage of the option to take the exam at work. The requirements for taking the test were to shut down all programs and applications and remain in a room where no one else was present.
During the exam, we are observed by the examiner, who can ask us to show you any part of the room at any time through the laptop's built-in camera. They can also point out any "suspicious" movement we make – for example, I received a warning for covering my mouth with my hand (and I wasn't hiding anything).
Facebook Certified Ads Product Developer I
Facebook Certified Ads Product Developer I is a certification that replaced the former Facebook Bronze Certification. To earn the certification, you must complete two parts: a multiple-choice test and an exercise in which you install a previously created pixel on a test page, along with a few selected events, parameters, and advanced matching code, and connect the pixel to your Facebook directory.
The exam is a requirement for joining Facebook Marketing Partners and tests knowledge of:
- creating and managing the Business Manager and its resources,
- creating and implementing a Facebook pixel, along with all available events and parameters, and applying custom conversions,
- creating catalogs and catalog-based campaigns,
- Understanding and implementing Advanced Matching processes in manual or automated implementation
- connecting the FB pixel to the directory,
- troubleshooting issues related to incorrect pixel implementation,
- troubleshooting directory errors,
- Troubleshooting issues with connecting pixel signals to catalog products.
Facebook Certified Media Buying Professional
The Facebook Certified Media Buying Professional exam is designed for those who professionally manage Facebook ads . The exam covers campaign planning, setup, optimization, and reporting.
The exam questions concern practical issues, most of them contain a description of an imaginary situation and possible variants of behavior in it.
Unlike the Product Ads Developer exam, in this case, we can start with a 30-question practice exam, the result of which has no impact on the final exam.
How much does a Facebook Bluprint certificate cost?
Each exam attempt costs $75.
How to study for the Facebook exam?
I would describe the difficulty level of both exams as high – in order to even approach them, practical experience in working with various types of campaigns is definitely necessary.
The Facebook Certified Media Buying Professional exam covers a wide range of topics, including reach and frequency campaigns, which are not available to most accounts. Therefore, in my opinion, to take the exam, you must:
- Blueprint Course Review
- At least 1-2 years of experience working with various types of campaigns and large budgets, regular use of various types of campaign optimization, regular testing of new solutions
- Understanding the principles of optimization, and the ability to react appropriately if a campaign is not going according to plan – for example, if the result is not adequate, or if the campaign does not spend its budget
For the Facebook Product Ads Developer I certification exam, experience with pixel implementation, including all events and parameters, on various CMSs and directly in code is required.
Unfortunately, after everything is over, we don't get any information about where we made mistakes.
Pros and cons of the examination process itself?
After the exam, we wait a maximum of a few minutes for the results, and it's hard for me to imagine anyone being certain of success during that time. The difficulty level of the questions is high, so passing the exam provides immense satisfaction and confidence in the high standard of our work.
